First Day Of Hurricane Season!

Yep, it's June 1st, which means for those of us in Hurricane prone areas you had better have some sort of plan engaged by now. Living so close to the coastline I have always taken hurricane preparation very seriously and never wait til the last minute to make preps. Some people just don't take this stuff seriously and your very existence could depend upon it.  I always start adding to my hurricane preps right after the new year, buying an item or two a week, checking my supplies, writing to do lists, checking the batteries in the flashlights, etc. I also make sure I have back up for my back up, more than one source for lighting, cooking, water. etc.

One thing I would really like is a boat, or at least a raft. I know you are saying "Aine, WHY on Earh would you want a boat or raft?"  How cute would my fat butt look sitting in the raft with my  Crow (The Movie) Umbrella paddling down the flooded streets helping people in need. Well actually I would be afraid of being mugged and having my boat stolen in this hood, but I would look awefully cute :)  Also most people are so whiney I would drop their helpless butts off at the next corner, I can't stand whining. And of course the only way I would leave my house is if it was flooded beyond help and I had to make an emergency exit.  I would come home to nothing, the looters would take everything I have, which isn't much but it's mine.  I would have to load up all my pretties on the boat, and the kids, the cat, the playstation (for  Michael's sanity) my coffee pot, my black hat collection, my books, my plants and my emergency backpack with food, water and medical supplies.  Looks like I need another boat, or a friggin ark.

You can track the storms on the NHC site, pretty cool.

I am now finished with my storm preparedness babbling, now go forth and buy batteries or something else useful :)
